Understanding the EOI pool

The EOI pool is the backlog of Expressions of Interest submitted to SkillSelect but not yet invited. This page breaks the pool down by occupation, points score and subclass. For the points-ranked subclass 189 (and family-sponsored 491), higher-scoring EOIs rank ahead, with Date of Effect ordering equal scores. Subclass 190 and state/territory-nominated 491 are selected by each jurisdiction under its own criteria, so those figures show the size of the field — not a queue ahead of you.

For points-ranked invitations, EOIs above your score rank ahead of you; whether same-score EOIs sit ahead depends on DOE. Use the leaderboard to find your occupation's pool size, then compare it against recent invitation cut-offs to judge the competition.

EOI pool & backlog — frequently asked questions

How many EOIs are in the SkillSelect pool?
The EOI pool is the set of Expressions of Interest submitted to SkillSelect, across various statuses. This page shows the latest published count for each occupation, broken down by points score and subclass. Queue-position estimates only apply to points-ranked invitations; subclass 190 and state/territory-nominated 491 are not selected in national EOI queue order.
What is the EOI backlog for my occupation?
Your occupation's EOI backlog is the queue of submitted EOIs still awaiting invitation. Use the leaderboard above to find your occupation's total EOI count and points distribution — one input for judging competition, though not by itself what decides an invitation.
How many EOIs are submitted at 65, 70 or higher points?
The points-distribution chart breaks the pool down by score. For points-ranked invitations, EOIs above your points rank ahead of you, and same-score order depends on DOE. More high-score EOIs usually means stiffer competition, but future cut-offs also depend on round sizes and pool changes.
